Another Singaporean man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the alleged murder case in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on Mar. 14, 2026.

The man, 30, was handed over to Malaysian police on Mar. 25, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in a statement.

This brings the total number of Singaporeans arrested in this case to five.

Previously, SPF said they had arrested three Singaporean men, aged 23 to 29, and a 27-year-old Singaporean woman, in relation to the murder.

This followed warrants of arrest issued by a Malaysian court and a request for assistance from the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP).

Fight allegedly started in nightclub

The alleged murder took place at a nightclub in Johor Bahru, according to Shin Min Daily News.

The victim was a Singaporean man, 32.

At the time of the incident, the suspects and the deceased were patrons at the nightclub, and appeared to have known each other.

"They had some drinks, then got into an argument. As it was noisy in the nightclub at the time, we couldn't make out what they were arguing about," the nightclub's owner said.

The argument escalated over time and got physical as they started shoving one another.

They were later asked by the nightclub staff to leave the premises.

As the group headed down to the ground floor, things continued to escalate, Shin Min wrote.

"We're not sure what happened afterwards. Someone stabbed the deceased. It was a terrifying scene," the boss said.

A security guard said there were about 10 people involved in the fight.

Fifth arrest

The 30-year-old man was handed over to the RMP to assist with their investigations, SPF said.

They added that they have always worked closely with the RMP in cases involving cross-border fugitives.

"The arrest of the persons involved in this case reflects the strong and long-standing relationship between the SPF and the RMP," they added.

In two of the arrests, a man and woman were involved in a five-hour standoff at a Teban Gardens Road HDB flat on Mar. 19.

Three police cars, two anti-riot tactical vehicles, four SCDF rescue vehicles, and one ambulance were involved in the operation.
