Fire breaks out at ibis hotel at Bencoolen, no injuries reported
At least one fire engine and two ambulances were present at the scene.
A fire broke out at ibis Singapore on Bencoolen on Mar. 13.
No injuries were reported.
Responding to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted to a fire at about 9:55am at 170 Bencoolen Street.
The fire involved a lift control panel on the 16th floor.
SCDF extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher and said that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
In response to Mothership’s queries, ibis Singapore said that at approximately 10am, a small electrical fire occurred on Level 16.
"The incident was quickly contained, and guests were evacuated in accordance with the hotel’s strict safety protocols."
They noted that no guests were injured and, as a precautionary measure, “a small number of guests were attended to by medical professionals for further checks".
ibis Singapore added: "The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team members remains our highest priority."

Alarm sounded at 9:30am
Photos shared on Facebook page Complaint Singapore showed the area outside the hotel being cordoned off.
At least one fire engine and two ambulances were present at the scene.
According to a Filipino hotel guest, Janice Villamil, who spoke to The Straits Times (ST), a fire alarm sounded at around 9:30am.
Another guest also told ST that they were told to gather in the lobby, before being escorted to an open space in front of the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple on Waterloo Street and assessed for injuries.

The 16-storey hotel has 534 rooms and is a 260m walk from Rochor MRT station, according to Agoda.
