Comfort introduces temp fee for app bookings & meter fare increase to ease financial strain on drivers
The announcement was made via a Mar. 17, 2026 joint media statement.
As part of efforts to ease the financial strain on local drivers, a temporary Driver Fee for app bookings will be introduced, said ComfortDelGro spokesperson Michael Huang.
Huang said this in a Mar. 17, 2026, joint media statement with the National Taxi Association (NTA) and the National Private Hire Vehicles Association (NPHVA).
Driver fee, meter fare
According to the media statement, this temporary driver fee will be S$0.50 for fares below S$15, and S$0.80 for fares S$15 and above.
"Separately, there will be a temporary S$0.01 increase to the distance time rate for all metered trips," said Huang, adding that "all of these fees will go directly to our drivers".
The Driver Fee and Meter Fare increase will be in effect from Mar. 24 to May 31, 2026, to help drivers manage rising operating costs, the media statement noted.
"We will continue to monitor the situation closely and remain committed to ensuring operational stability for our partners during this volatile period."
Taxi fuel credit incentive programme
This comes after it had absorbed a portion of the increased fuel costs as prices continued to climb due to the ongoing international conflict, the media statement noted.
In addition, a separate ongoing taxi fuel credit incentive programme to bolster support for cabbies had previously been introduced on Mar. 15, 2026.
The NTA and NPHV, both affiliated to the National Trades Union Congress, have welcomed the measures.
