A fundraising campaign for a five-month-old Singaporean baby girl diagnosed with a rare genetic condition has reached its S$2.4 million goal.

A total of 35,544 people donated to Ginny's cause as of Mar. 21.

On Mar. 21, 10pm, Ginny's parents, Jenny and Quan, shared an update that they've achieved their fundraising target and have begun coordinating next steps with the hospital.

"If all goes smoothly, Ginny will be able to start her therapy in the coming weeks," they added.

The couple expressed their deepest gratitude to the donors, and told Mothership: "Your support has given Ginny the chance at the best possible outcomes in her life ahead."

S$2.4 million fundraising goal for "world's most expensive drug"

Ginny was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a condition that progressively destroys motor neurons and weakens muscles, affecting the brain and spinal cord.

As each day passes, more motor neurons are permanently lost.

The cure, known as Zolgensma, is a prescription gene-replacement therapy priced at S$2.4 million per dose. Without treatment, children with the condition typically do not survive beyond early childhood.

Ginny's parents were racing against time to raise funds for her treatment, and launched a public appeal on Ray Of Hope on Mar. 12.

Fundraising goal achieved in 10 days

On Mar. 21, Jenny and Quan thanked donors on Ray of Hope and Instagram after the goal was achieved in 10 days.

"Many of you went above and beyond—sharing Ginny’s story, reaching out to your communities, and standing alongside us in hope. We’ve been deeply moved by the kindness, generosity, and compassion you’ve shown," they wrote.

"You’ve helped bring Ginny one step closer to receiving the timely treatment she needs, and that means more to us than we can ever fully express."

Jenny and Quan added that they will continue to share updates on Ginny's recovery journey on Instagram.

The couple also urged donors to also consider supporting other campaigns listed on Ray of Hope.
