Trump holds 1st Board of Peace meeting, pledges US$10 billion to board

Nine other countries have pledged US$7 billion.

U.S. President Donald Trump held the first Board of Peace meeting on Feb. 20.

Here are the members of the board, according to the Associated Press.

Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Egypt, El Salvador, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

There were also countries present as observers:

Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, European Union, Finland, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, South Korea, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

The Board of Peace had come together after the Trump administration, teaming up with Qatar and Egypt, negotiated a ceasefire in Gaza.

During the meeting, Trump said the U.S. will contribute US$10 billion (S$12.7 billion) to the peace board.

The leader of the newly created International Stabilisation Force said the plans call for 12,000 police and 20,000 soldiers for Gaza.

Trump said nine countries have pledged US$7 billion (S$8.8 billion) to the reconstruction experiment.

These countries are Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait.

The board does not have any Palestinian representatives.
