Singapore will be importing Jeju black pork and Hanwoo beef from South Korea following an approval in November 2025, said Singapore's Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu.
"Who is ready for more Jeju black pork and Hanwoo beef in Singapore?" asked Fu in a Feb. 2, 2026 Facebook post, adding that she was pleased to meet South Korea's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi Ryung.
Food, bilateral relations
"We shared challenges and approaches to enhance Singapore and South Korea's food supply, such as by diversifying our food import sources to ensure supply chain resilience," said Fu in her post.
She added: "We spoke about adopting agri-tech like smart farms to achieve higher crop yields in a more sustainable manner."
"I also shared how Singapore is supporting regional food security by commissioning a study to understand the impact of climate change on ASEAN's agriculture sector," said Fu, adding that the study's findings will facilitate development of mitigation measures in the region.
In addition, Fu noted that Singapore and South Korea upgraded bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations in 2025.
Fu said: "I look forward to more opportunities to deepen our friendship and cooperation!"
