1,523 speeding tickets wrongly issued between Oct. & Dec. 2025, Traffic Police & LTA apologise
Affected motorists won't need to do anything, they will be contacted.
The Traffic Police (TP) will cancel demerit points issued and refund composition sums for 1,523 speeding tickets that were wrongly issued, due to a technical error involving speed enforcement cameras along the Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE).
The authorities said the affected tickets were issued between Oct. 30 and Dec. 8, 2025, after the speed limit on three cameras was incorrectly configured at 70 kilometres per hour instead of the actual 80 kilometres per hour limit.
Speed limit incorrectly set on three KPE cameras
According to a joint statement by TP and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Feb. 5, 2026, the error involved three enforcement cameras on the KPE that were operating under an incorrect speed setting.
“The cameras are managed by LTA on behalf of TP as part of a wider traffic management service contract for the expressway.
“The incorrect configuration was introduced during a hardware replacement carried out on 30 October 2025 by LTA’s contractor.”
This mistake resulted in motorists being penalised despite travelling within the lawful speed limit.
TP said the issue was uncovered during a regular audit conducted in mid-December 2025.
TP and LTA apologise, implement stronger safeguards
Once identified, the contractor promptly corrected the speed setting, and further checks were carried out on all cameras managed under the same service contract.
As an added precaution, TP also reviewed speed enforcement cameras across the rest of Singapore to ensure no similar errors existed.
TP and LTA apologised for the inconvenience caused, saying they take the matter seriously and are implementing stronger safeguards to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Affected motorists do not need to take action
The authorities emphasised that affected motorists will not be required to submit any claims or requests.
TP will contact those impacted directly, and all wrongly issued tickets, along with any corresponding demerit points, will be cancelled.
Those who have already paid their fines will receive refunds through PayNow or bank transfer, the statement added.
Motorists with concerns may reach out to TP through the Singapore Police Force’s online feedback portal.
