According to the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Singapore's buildings are designed to be sufficiently robust to withstand tremors caused by distant earthquakes.
However, when a tremor does occur, BCA advises staying calm, as well as adhering to various precautions.
Those indoors may take cover under a table, avoid using naked flame, and not take the lift.
Those outdoors should remain in the open until the tremor stops and stay away from buildings.
