One of Singapore's last video rental stores will be bidding customers farewell. Their last day will be Apr. 30, 2026.

Announcing its closure via a Feb. 21, 2026, Facebook post, Rida Video Centre reminded customers to visit the shop and collect their balance if they have unused prepaid credits.

Keepsake or refund

The post noted that customers may exchange the balance for physical discs as a keepsake or for their collection, or receive a refund by cash or PayNow.

Refunds are available only up to Apr. 30, 2026, the post stated, adding that for refunds, customers must sign on their rental card in person to acknowledge the balance.

Long history

The movie rental store's closure comes decades after it was established in 1985.

Previously located in Serene Centre, the store later relocated to Bukit Timah's Coronation Shopping Plaza to make ends meet due to rising rental costs, RICE Media reported in 2018.

Offering over 10,000 titles, the store carries a wide range of titles in various languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, French and others, according to its Facebook page.

Thanked customers

In light of the store's upcoming closure, the post reminded customers to contact them only via WhatsApp for all enquiries.

"We will not be available via Facebook, Instagram, or landline," the post read.

The store also expressed gratitude to its customers.

"Thank you very much for all your support and loyalty over the years. We truly appreciate it."
