Knife-wielding woman in Bangkok tries to attack others, struggles with police after hiding in taxi

A woman in Thailand was arrested on Jan. 16 after she was seen brandishing a knife in the Nana area in Bangkok.

In an Instagram post on Jan. 17, user @niccorocks said that he was walking the streets of Sukhumvit Soi 3 when he reportedly heard people screaming.

He then saw "a woman with a knife trying to attack people".

Tried to attack members of the public

At the start of the video, the woman could be seen walking along the streets while brandishing a knife in her right hand.

She then turned around and lunged at a man behind her who was attempting to stop her.

He tried to kick her in retaliation before she continued walking in the opposite direction.

People were seen clearing the walkway before the woman randomly charged at a nearby woman.

Jumped into taxi, surrounded

Following the attempted attacks, she approached a nearby taxi and jumped into the vehicle to escape pursuit.

Bystanders, including a Grab rider, acted to prevent the vehicle from leaving, alerting the driver to exit the car and effectively trapping the woman inside.

The video later showed a chaotic confrontation as police and several men in orange vests surrounded the green-and-yellow taxi.

The woman remained highly aggressive, refusing to drop the weapon or exit the vehicle.

She was also seen repeatedly trying to stab at someone as she sat by the car window.

Struggled with police officer

A local police officer later managed to enter the vehicle from the opposite side.

Working in coordination with the men outside, the officer subdued the woman.

According to the user, a Grab driver had "ended up jumping inside the taxi and getting the knife from her with the help of others".

He added that she had reportedly stabbed a boy where he had first ran into her.
