Man, 48, arrested for drink driving after his car hits traffic light at Kitchener Road in front of City Square Residences condo
The traffic light appeared slanted at an angle after the accident.
A 48-year-old man was arrested for drink-driving after his car reportedly self-skidded and hit a traffic light in front of City Square Residences condominium around 2am on Jan. 15, 2026, causing the traffic light to become slanted.
Based on pictures of the accident seen by Mothership, a white car was stationary in front of the traffic light.
The car's doors at the driver's seat and the passenger seat directly behind were open.

Hit traffic light
In addition, the traffic light appeared to be slanted at an angle after being hit, with a pedestrian push button broken off on the ground.

Debris could also be seen strewn near the traffic light and a chair that appeared to be an ambulance chair was next to it.

The driver was "a bit drunk", a Mothership reader alleged, although they did not provide evidence.
Wee hour accident
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed being alerted on Jan. 15, 2026 at about 2:05am to an accident at the junction of Kitchener Road and Verdun Road.
SCDF conveyed one person conscious to Tan Tock Seng hospital.
Responding to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed being alerted to the same accident involving a car, where the male car driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after his car was believed to have self-skidded.
Police investigations are ongoing.
