Man, 26, charged for alleged trafficking of Kpods, also caught with over 1,000 tablets of prescription medicine in Geylang
He was charged in court on Jan. 9, 2026.
The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has charged a 26-year-old man, Abdul Ammar Bin Mahmood Jumat, in court on Jan. 9, 2026 for the alleged trafficking of etomidate e-vaporiser pods.
This comes after HSA officers conducted an enforcement operation in Geylang on the evening of Jan. 7, 2026, where they arrested the accused along Geylang Lorong 35.
Seized
According to a HSA press release, HSA officers found and seized one e-vaporiser, four e-vaporiser pods, six bottles of cough syrup, and prescription medicines including more than 1,000 capsules and tablets from the accused.

Following his arrest, laboratory testing confirmed that the seized pods contained etomidate.
Investigations are ongoing and the case has been adjourned to Feb. 4, 2026.
Penalties
HSA noted in its press release that since the enhanced penalties framework took effect on Sep. 1, 2025, importers, sellers and distributors of etomidate e-vaporisers now face stiffer penalties.
These include three to 20 years' jail and five to 15 strokes of the cane for importers, as well as two to 10 years' jail and two to five strokes of the cane for sellers and distributors.
Those convicted of importing, manufacturing and/or supplying illegal health products are liable to up to two years' jail and/or a fine of up to S$50,000.
