Fire breaks out on roof of Our Tampines Hub after New Year's Day fireworks
No injuries were reported.
Members of the public who gathered at the Tampines 2026 countdown celebrations saw some unintended sparks shortly after entering the new year.
Soon after the fireworks display ended, a fire was spotted on the roof of Our Tampines Hub.
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a fire at 1 Tampines Walk at about 12:05am on Jan. 1.
The fire involved a small patch of grass at the rooftop garden of the affected building, and it was extinguished by the SCDF with a hose reel.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Footage of the fire
Videos shared online by witnesses show a blaze at the top of Our Tampines Hub.
Many people can still be seen outside and on the various floors of the building at the time, as an SCDF truck drove inside.

A Facebook user who shared a video said that the fire began immediately after the fireworks display, but after the SCDF put out the fire in about 15 mins, the celebrations appeared to continue.
Someone, who seemed to be a resident in the area, commented that there were many sirens and a very strong smell at the time, prompting them to close their windows at home.
