Flash floods hit western S'pore amid heavy rainfall: PUB
Dec. 4's rainfall volume lies within the top 2 per cent of maximum daily rainfall records since 1978.
Heavy rainfall on Dec. 4 led to flash floods across western Singapore, said PUB in a Facebook advisory.
The intense rain temporarily overwhelmed the capacity of drains and canals in the area.
The following locations were affected:
- Junction of Boon Lay Way and Corporation Rd
- Boon Lay Ave (between Jalan Boon Lay and Boon Lay Drive)
- Pandan Road
- Pesawat Drive (before Jurong Port Road)
PUB also issued flood risk warnings for nine locations across Singapore, including at Boon Lay, Clementi, and Tanjong Pagar.
Flooding subsided within 30 minutes
Flooding subsided within 30 minutes at all four locations, PUB said.
Response teams were deployed, and officers assisted motorists and diverted traffic away from the flooded lanes.
