AGC issues warning letters to Pritam Singh & Mediacorp for contempt of court
Both had previously published apologies.
The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) issued a warning letter to Pritam Singh and Mediacorp Pte Ltd, respectively, on Dec. 19, 2025, for contempt of court.
This comes after both Singh and Mediacorp previously published apologies for contempt of court.
AGC said in a media statement that this is in relation to Singh's interview with CNA's The Assembly Programme.
In the interview, Singh made some statements regarding the case relating to Raeesah Khan, where he had been found guilty in February 2025 of two charges of wilfully giving false answers to a Parliamentary Committee of Privileges.
Interview
The interview, which was recorded in July 2025, was aired by Mediacorp on CNA on Nov. 5, 2025, a day after the appeal against Singh’s conviction was heard, with judgment reserved.
It was also accessible through platforms like YouTube and MeWatch.
In addition, Singh posted about the interview on Facebook on Nov. 6 and Nov. 8.
Apologies
Following this, AGC wrote to Singh and Mediacorp on Nov. 28, informing them that the Attorney-General was of the view that the statements and publication of the interview were in contempt of court.
Mediacorp took down the interview from its platforms and channels on Dec. 12.
Singh and Mediacorp respectively published an apology on Dec. 13.
The court had dismissed Singh's appeal on Dec. 4.
Warnings
The Attorney-General's decision to issue Singh and Mediacorp with warnings comes after considering all the circumstances of the case, including the apologies, said AGC.
AGC added that contempt of court impedes the proper administration of justice in Singapore.
"Left unchecked, such conduct can erode respect for our judicial institutions and their decisions," said AGC.
"AGC takes a serious view of any conduct that amounts to contempt of court and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who engage in such conduct."
