S'pore content creator Mermaid Girl investigated for allegedly abusing dog
In a video circulating online, a person believed to be Ng scolded and hit a dog for drinking peach tea.
The National Parks Board (NParks) is currently investigating allegations that Singapore content creator Mermaid Girl mistreated a dog.
Eunice Ng, popularly known online as Mermaid Girl, supposedly posted a video of someone scolding and hitting a dog on her social media recently.
The video was reposted on TikTok on Dec. 2 and on Reddit on Dec. 18, drawing heavy criticism against Ng.
Ng has since deleted her main Instagram account.
Drinking peach tea
In the video, the person filming is not seen on camera, but can be heard shouting at the puppy while it appeared to cower in the corner of a table.
"Are you a dog or human? Who [said] you can drink peach tea, ah?" a woman's voice said. "Doesn't mean [if] it's sweet means you can drink, understand or not? You're nothing more than a rat, okay?"
Then, a hand reached out and hit the dog hard three times.

Commenters online expressed outrage at the actions in the video and highlighted that the dog looked terrified and helpless.
Many also called for the authorities, including the police and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), to look into the case.
NParks investigating
In response to Mothership's queries, NParks' Group Director for Enforcement & Investigation, Jessica Kwok, said that NParks is aware of the allegations and is investigating them.
She also urged pet owners to be responsible and provide appropriate care throughout their pet’s lifetime.
