No drugs found in M'sian rapper Namewee's system

Malaysian rapper-influencer Namewee's urine test report showed no traces of drugs, New Straits Times reported.

His lawyer Joshua Tay, told reporters that the urine test report was submitted by the prosecution.

The negative result was made public on Dec. 18 after the court was informed about it.

The lawyer added that the prosecution is expected to drop the charge soon.

Two drug charges

Namewee, 42, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, is accused of self-administering amphetamine, methamphetamine, THC and ketamine.

The charge under the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a maximum RM5,000 (S$1,580) fine or jail term of up to two years, and supervision for between two and three years.

Separately, Namewee is facing a charge of possessing 5.12g of Ecstasy in a hotel room along Jalan Conlay in Kuala Lumpur on the evening of Oct. 22.

He is charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries a jail term of between two and five years and whipping of between three and nine strokes.

Regarding the drug possession charge, Namewee's lawyer said they had not received the updated chemist report from the prosecution, NST reported.
