Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU) was ranked first in AI in a list that evaluates universities based on academic subjects.
The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) is published by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, which also publishes the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
First in AI
According to the ranking results, NTU tops the table for AI with a score of 289.
It is followed by China's Tsinghua University in second and Canada's University of Toronto in third.
Also in the top 10 are Carnegie Mellon University in sixth place, University of Californa, Los Angeles in seventh, and Stanford University in 10th.
National University of Singapore placed 27th.
According to the GRAS website, the ranking evaluates 2,000 universities from 10 countries and regions across 57 subjects.
The universities's performance in each subject are evaluated based on indicators such as faculty quality, output quality, research impact and international collaboration.
The results for this year's GRAS was released on Nov. 18.
ShanghaiRanking's other ranking publication, the Academic Ranking of World Universities, is regarded as on par with the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education rankings.
ARWU was first published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003.
ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, a fully independent organisation, took over in 2009.
