A motorcyclist had a close shave on Dec. 9 when a car cut into her lane and nearly collided with her on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE).

Daphne, a Malaysian woman who transits to Singapore for work, was on her way back to Malaysia around 11:40pm that night.

Around Exit 26A of the PIE, she was riding on the leftmost lane when a white car entered the expressway to her left, as seen from Daphne's dashcam footage.

According to Daphne, the car suddenly sped up to almost 100km/hr as it cut into her lane and overtook her motorcycle.

The car was so close to her motorcycle that it appeared to have brushed the mirror.

Only inches away

"I felt stunned and was very scared when the car literally passed me only inches away," Daphne told Mothership.

She described feeling a "strong wave" when the car rushed past her fast.

It looked like the driver had not intended to slow down as it neared her, she said.

She waited until the car had switched to the next lane beside her before honking at it, as she was afraid the sound might cause the driver to hit the brakes and hit her.

If it had hit her, she might have been crushed under the truck that was behind her, she added.

Shaking in fright, she had to stop to rest and catch her breath under a bridge after turning into the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).

Will be making police report

Daphne posted about the incident on Facebook, and her post drew much criticism for the driver.

Many commenters encouraged her to make a police report, which she told Mothership she will do soon.

She has also sent her dashcam footage to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
