Crowds gather at Farrer Park to await body of Bangladeshi youth leader, who died in SGH after assassination attempt
The crowd dispersed by 11am, SPF said.
On the morning of Dec. 19, crowds gathered outside Angullia Mosque in Farrer Park to await a body.
Sharif Osman Hadi, a Bangladeshi pro-democracy leader, had died the night before at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
He was receiving treatment there after being airlifted from Bangladesh, following a Dec. 12 assassination attempt where he was shot in the head.
But he succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 18.
Sharif had been campaigning as a potential candidate for the upcoming national election, reported Dhaka Tribune.
No law and order issues
Videos posted on TikTok showed people congregating along Roberts Lane.

While raised voices could be heard, no instances of rowdy behaviour were observed.
Police officers and vehicles were also seen deployed for crowd control in the area.

Dispersed by 11am
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that they were alerted to the situation.
The congregants were waiting for the arrival of Sharif's body, and police officers were deployed for safety reasons as some were waiting on the road.
The crowd dispersed by 11am, SPF said.
No injuries, nor law and order issues, were reported or observed, SPF added.
