Relying solely on touch and sound, a blind Malaysian mother crawled through the dense Borneo rainforest to seek help after her daughter died in their rainforest hut.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the blind elderly woman stayed beside her daughter's body for days.

The tragic incident took place in a remote area near Kampung Tambey in Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Kampung Tambey is approximately 30.5 kilometres by car from Sarawak's state capital, Kuching's city centre.

The daughter who was in her 30s, passed suddenly around six days ago.

The mother reached the main road at around 6am on Dec. 5, 2025, reported Weird Kaya.

Mother-daughter duo lived in isolation

The duo lived in a tiny isolated hut which was located a distance away from the main road, in the jungle which made access difficult.

They relied heavily on each other and survived on government aid for their daily needs, stated Utusan Sarawak.

After her daughter passed away, the mother attempted to seek help.

Alone and lacking assistance, the mother crawled and writhed, feeling her way in the darkness.

After nearly two days of continuous crawling, she eventually reached the main road-side and flagged down motorists at dawn, around 6am.

She finally managed to tell them about her daughter's passing.

Body was in an advanced state of decomposition

Police officers and the Sarawak State Civil Defence Force (APM) hurried to the scene after picking up the distress call.

Trekking into the rainforest, they reached the hut where the body was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

Rescue personnel transferred the daughter's remains to the hospital mortuary.

APM officers conveyed the elderly woman to the hospital for examination and treatment after her days-long ordeal.

Police investigations are ongoing.
