According to The Straits Times, Jisoo’s team contacted Sugarsmith on Dec. 19 to request an order by Dec. 20 night, on their way back to South Korea.
Founded in June 2025 by couple Andreas Koh and Adriana Zheng, the local patisserie is known for handcrafted, character-themed macarons, which include those with official Sanrio licensing.
The pastry business currently has an outlet at Jewel Changi Airport.
In an interview with ST, Zheng revealed that she designed templates from scratch, including making the batter with almond flour, egg whites, and sugar.
“We generally focus on our standard collections, but this was a meaningful project for the team, so we wanted to put something special together,” she said.
Zheng, who started as a home baker during the Covid-19 pandemic, said she was “surprised and happy” to see Jisoo post about the macarons.
“There are many large macaron businesses in South Korea, so it feels special that something from Singapore is recognised in this way,” she said.
Sugarsmith created about 150 macarons for Jisoo, including 25 custom “Shumon” macarons and a large 14cm Shumon sculpture.
The order also included an extra-large Hello Kitty macaron sculpture with a Christmas tree and her teddy bear friend Tiny Chum.
