S$1 billion wellness 'oasis' to open at Marina South by 2030 with thermal pools & gardens
It is expected to greet 2 million visitors annually.
Asia's first state-of-the-art sustainable wellbeing destination will soon be located next to Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay.
The S$1 billion attraction is slated to open by 2030, according to The Straits Times.
In a press release on Nov. 4, Therme Group, an international hospitality developer and operator, shared that it has been awarded a tender by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to build the wellness attraction.
Mah Bow Tan, Chairman of Therme Group Asia said that the group aimed to "make this another jewel of Marina Bay—a world-class destination that draws visitors from the region and beyond, showcasing Singapore as a leader in holistic wellness".
The 4-hectare waterfront site on the Marina South Coast will soon be developed into an "urban oasis" featuring gardens and lush landscapes, thermal pools, health technologies and world-class art installations.
These will make it "distinct from traditional spas or resorts", the press release wrote.

Two million annual visitors
The completed attraction is expected to greet 2 million visitors annually once it reaches full operational capacity, with around half being tourists.
The project aims to integrate infrastructure with nature to usher in holistic wellbeing for all.
Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of the Experience Development Group at STB, stated that "this attraction will draw travellers seeking wellness experiences, potentially increasing length of stay and spend, whilst providing locals with best-in-class wellness experiences".
Sustainable development
The facility will be designed with sustainability in mind, integrating Therme Group's high-efficiency water recycling, biophilic designs and green energy solutions.
The adjacent coastal park also be integrated with the attraction.
Tan added that the space will cater to those of all ages and backgrounds, "promoting healthy living, social connection and community wellbeing".
The Therme Group is owner and operator of wellness destinations worldwide including flagship destinations such as Therme Bucharest in Romania and Therme Erding in Germany, which welcome a combined total of 3.5 million visitors each year.
Other Therme attractions also feature saunas, mineral pools, waterslides, swim-up bars, and relaxation beds.
This marks their first foray into Singapore and the region.
