A 64-year-old man died in the hospital after he fell onto the tracks at Fajar LRT station on Nov. 19.
In a clip of the aftermath of the accident that was posted on TikTok and later circulated on social media, a person could be seen lying on the track at an LRT station alongside a toppled personal mobility device (PMD).
Later in the clip, an SMRT staff member and another man could be seen assisting the victim.
SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Kai told Mothership that a passenger on a PMD fell onto the tracks at Fajar LRT station on the Bukit Panjang LRT Line at about 9:35pm on Nov. 19.
SMRT staff immediately alerted the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for assistance and filed a police report, Lam said.
"Our Operations Control Centre promptly turned off the traction power. Thanks to their swift action, the commuter was not struck by any incoming train," he added.
Lam also said SMRT is cooperating with police in their investigations.
The police said they were alerted to the incident at about 9:35pm.
A man was later found lying motionless on the train tracks.
SCDF said the man was taken to Woodlands Health Campus, where he later died.
