Singaporean Amos Yee, 27, was released from prison in the United States after being granted parole halfway through his six-year sentence for child pornography and sexual grooming.

According to a notification issued by the Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) service at 7:14am (U.S. time), Yee has been freed from the Illinois Department of Corrections on Nov. 20.

He is also set to be deported from the U.S. to Singapore, reported The Straits Times.

Previously released on parole

Yee's release marks another instance of him being released on parole.

On Nov. 7, he was briefly released before being immediately taken back into custody, according to VINE.

He was also previously granted parole in October 2023 halfway through his six-year sentence but was returned to custody a month later.

Yee's six-year sentence followed his guilty plea on Dec. 3, 2021 for grooming a 14-year-old girl online and soliciting naked pictures.
