Toast Box is 20, and it's celebrating by introducing new buns, new brews, a return of its signature Nanyang Kopi package and new kopi merchandise.

A lot has changed in 20 years, but the appeal of traditional-style Nanyang Kopi remains constant.

Over 20 years, my love for coffee has waxed and waned, changed and evolved, expanded to take in fancy espresso-style coffees.

But even then, as it is now, when I need a drink to change the complexion of my day, my first and only thought goes back to a good cup of Kopi.

Get your kopi fix anywhere, everywhere

There are many great coffees in the world.

Italian espressos, Vietnamese drip coffees, but for Singaporeans, nothing beats the taste of a good ol’ traditional Nanyang kopi.

In Singapore, if you want Toast Box’s traditional Nanyang kopi, you only have to visit one of their more than 80 locations.

But what about friends and loved ones living overseas or visiting Singapore as tourists?

Here’s some good news: Toast Box has made its beloved signature Nanyang kopi, kopi o, and kopi o kosong into kopi sachets, available from Nov. 4 onwards.

And while these sachets are quick and convenient for drinkers, it is also a distillation of the dedication and effort by Toast Box.

Toast Box continues to roast their own coffee beans, making a proprietary blend born of sustainably farmed beans, carefully selected, freshly ground, and sealed to preserve the rich flavour Toast Box’s kopi is known for.

Toast Box’s kopi sachets are also getting a new look, with beautifully designed boxes inspired by Nanyang heritage, providing a new look to go with their traditional contents.

These make perfect gifts for the upcoming festive season or office holiday party, and to provide friends living abroad or visiting from overseas a warm taste of home.

And even if you don’t have the time (or hot water) to make yourself a cuppa, but want that shot of kopi to give your day a kick, Toast Box is also offering its own crafted version of Kopi Candy.

Inspired by Toast Box’s rich, aromatic Nanyang Kopi, Kopi Candy delivers that bold kopi taste in a pocket-sized package that can be shared on the go with friends and loved ones.

A perfect way to savour the warmth of home, anywhere.

60 cups of coffee please, with a chance of free kaya toast for a year

Also making a return for Toast Box’s 20th anniversary is Nanyang Kopi Package, offering 60 cups of kopi for S$98 with two free kaya toast sets, down from the original price of S$145.50.

That’s 60 cups of kopi for S$1.65 each.

And if the idea of a long-term supply of kopi sounds like a delight, why not pair that with something.

Something like a year’s worth of free kaya toast.

Yes, you heard me correctly.

Between now and Oct. 31, if you spend at least S$25 nett, you'll stand a chance to win one free year of kaya toast in a special anniversary lucky draw.

All you need to do is purchase it at any Toast Box outlet or download it via the BreadTalk Group Rewards app.

Boluo buns sandwiches absolutely do not miss

But this anniversary isn’t just about how things were; Toast Box is also introducing new promotional items.

I must admit I felt a certain amount of skepticism when I saw the new offerings at first – three new sandwiches, with a Boluo bun for the bread.

Have you ever seen those highly questionable food mash-ups, like batter-fried candy bars or doughnut burgers?

These can be quite hit or miss; often, the combination of two good things just ends with too much of one bland thing.

But Toast Box was kind enough to send some samples our way, and I, like a good office mate, cut them all up so that the rest of the office could try them too.

My verdict is this: I really regret sharing the sandwiches.

I could have eaten all three of them by myself, they were so good.

All three of these were fantastic mixes of different flavours or textures, and the only negative thing I would say is that they shouldn’t be promotional, they should add them permanently.

First up is the exquisitely named Luncheon Legend, a luncheon meat sandwiched inside the soft, yet ever so slightly crunchy, sweet boluo bao buns.

Then there was the king of breakfast sandwiches, the Nutty Genius, which is probably what they called the person who invented these.

Thickly layered black sesame paste and peanut butter, with a slab of butter holding it all together; each bite is a trip through a range of textures.

And the Mighty Chicken, it’s just a good sandwich.

The fried chicken is hearty and juicy while the basil pesto sauce adds some kick to contrast with the sweetness of the bun.

I cannot easily tell you how impressed I was with the buns, other than to reassure you that the next time I’m passing a Toast Box, I hope to see you, dear reader, in line with me for these.

Soy booooooy

And a good sandwich needs something to wash it down with.

If you’ve ever thought that you can’t decide between a soy milk and a kopi, man, do I have good news for you.

Toast Box is introducing its Soy Series, where kopitiam standards of kopi and teh are mixed with creamy soy milk.

Want something without caffeine? The series also introduces the Soy Rosie, Toast Box’s take on a dairy-free bandung drink, with bandung syrup mixed with soy milk.

All of the Soy Series drinks start from S$4.

So celebrate 20 brew-tiful years with Toast Box’s limited edition buns, soy milk series, kopi merchandise, and Nanyang Kopi Package!

Just try not to drink them all at once.

This sponsored article by Toast Box made the author decide that a boluo bun sandwich must now be part of his breakfast.
