A Thai husband who was jealous of his wife allegedly fatally shot her more than 10 times with a gun before using it to kill himself.

Sin Chew Daily reported that the husband, 44, suspected his wife, 36, of an extramarital affair.

According to Thailand news platform Matichon Online, the incident took place on Oct. 9 at a hospital flat in southern Thailand's Ban Na San District, Surat Thani Province.

The gun found at the scene was a nine-millimetre pistol.

According to the deceased couple's relative, the husband, identified as Tasakorn, had two sons with his nurse wife, Namfon.

Prior to shooting

According to preliminary investigations, Namfon was reportedly in the two-storey house with another female friend before the incident.

The deceased couple's relative said the couple had been married for more than 20 years and had two sons together.

The relative added that Tassakorn had recently become extremely jealous of Namfon, although the relative said Namfon had not been seeing anyone else.

Namfon was supposedly working shifts, after which she reportedly returned home to cook and look after her child before sleeping at the house.

Tassakorn had supposedly sent his youngest son to school before going to see Namfon.

When Tassakorn arrived at the house where Namfon was, the two reportedly had a violent argument.

Shooting

Tassakorn then reportedly used the gun to shoot Namfon before using it to shoot himself.

Both husband and wife died in the shooting.

According to Matichon Online, the initial motive was reportedly found to be jealousy.

Fatal injuries

Following the incident, Police Lieutenant Colonel Decha Kongsuk received a report at 7am on Oct. 9 of a shooting in a hospital flat.

The investigating officer at Ban Na San police station then reported the incident to his superiors.

He then inspected the scene together with Police Lieutenant Colonel Worawit Charoensuphaphol and forensic services.

Upon inspecting the scene, they reportedly found Tassakorn lying on top of Namfon.

Matichon Online reported that police found Namfon with a total of 14 gunshot wounds — three gunshot wounds to her right cheek, two to her left cheek, five to her chest, two to her abdomen, and two to her right hand.
