Taiwan MRT commuter who kicked old woman shares what was in bag that day, gets praise for 'elegance'
Others commented on her boldness during the incident.
The woman who kicked an elderly commuter on the Taiwan MRT train has since found fame online after netizens discovered her Instagram account.
The woman, who goes by Fumi on Instagram, shared a photo on Sep. 30 of what she had supposedly bought from Homme Plissé Issey Miyake.
Her purchase captured people's attention after she casually handed the Homme Plissé paper bag over to a bystander on another seat for safekeeping, before standing up to deliver the kick to the old lady.
In her Instagram post showing her with a colourful shawl, she shared in the caption, "Since everyone is curious about this product".
Elegant
ETToday reported on Oct. 2 that she had around 2,600 followers at the time of writing.
Since then, Fumi's following has shot up to 15,700 followers.
Instagram users flooded the comment section of her post with compliments, noting her "elegance", refined air, and fashionable appearance.
Others commented on her boldness during the incident.
Another noted that she had encountered the same 73-year-old woman, who goes by the surname Tseng, on the metro before.
Tseng had insulted her and demanded her seat, she claimed.
Arrest
Tseng was recently arrested on Oct. 1 for shop theft, after "causing a commotion" inside the convenience store.
Videos of Tseng being hauled away by police officers, which were posted to social media, showed her clad in the same outfit and carrying the same bag as she did on the train.
Several local media outlets reported that she had also previously been arrested and jailed for shoplifting incidents in 2023.
She was also sentenced to 55 days in prison for theft in June, but failed to report to prison, prompting the authorities to issue a warrant for her arrest.
