New Japan PM Takaichi visits M'sian war memorial during Asean summit
She also visited the Japanese Cemetery in KL.
Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was photographed paying her respects at the National Monument of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia on Oct. 26.
Takaichi, who ascended to her role on Oct. 21 as the first woman Japanese prime minister, was making her debut international visit as PM to Malaysia for the ongoing Asean Summit from Oct. 26 to 28.
She visited the National Monument of Malaysia in the early afternoon, where she laid a wreath at the foot of the monument and was photographed bowing towards it.

The National Monument, locally known as the Tugu Negara, pays tribute to lives lost in Malaysia's road to independence, including during the Japanese Occupation in World War Two and the Malayan Emergency.
Takaichi also visited the Japanese Cemetery in KL on the same day, according to Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
There, she offered flowers to pay tribute to Japanese nationals who lost their lives in Malaysia.
