Mercedes allegedly hits 2 women in Yishun: Man, 36, arrested for driving under influence of intoxicating substances after vape found in car
E-vaporisers and related components were found in his car.
A 36-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicating substances on Sep. 30.
This was after a traffic accident at Block 622 Yishun Ring Road where two woman, aged 67 and 81, were knocked down.
All three were conveyed conscious to the hospital before police arrested the driver.
E-vaporisers and related components were found in the driver's car and were seized by the Health Sciences Authority.
Investigations are ongoing.
What happened
According to Shin Min Daily News, a Mercedes-Benz allegedly lost control and mounted the sidewalk at Yishun Ring Road, knocking down two women.
The accident occurred at around 10am on Sep. 30 at the entrance of Khatib Polyclinic.
Shin Min reported that according to witnesses, the driver, who was dressed in black, appeared "dazed" and remained in the car for some time after the accident.
He appeared to have been shaking uncontrollably.
A 43-year-old reader, surnamed Lin (transliterated), told Shin Min that the two women who were hit by the car were apparently "seriously injured".
"It looked like there was blood on their heads, and the driver also looked like he was bleeding from his mouth," he said.
One of the victims, who was dressed in red, was seen lying on the grass patch on the sidewalk while medical staff tended to her.
The other victim, who was lying on the pavement, reportedly had more serious injuries.
