'We are good friends': Filipino actress, 25, denies being in relationship with DJ Glenn Ong, 55

Filipino actress Jonica Lazo has slammed the door shut on rumours that she and veteran DJ Glenn Ong are in a relationship.

This comes days after Ong, 55, said he and the 25-year-old actress were dating, albeit not exclusively.

In an Instagram story on Oct. 7, Lazo wrote, "Once and for all, me and Glenn Ong [are] not in a relationship, we are good friends!"

"Stop spreading false news. #BeKindEveryone".

A screenshot of Lazo's story was subsequently reposted to Ong's Instagram, with the caption, "Let's all move on".

Later, a screenshot of Ong's repost was also reposted to Lazo's Instagram.

In a follow-up story, the actress also addressed negative comments about her acting career, saying her career choices were made with her family's full support and blessing.

She also said she "had enough of all the hurtful words" and urged users to "stop dragging me and Glenn to this nonsense", adding that "he's a good man and friend".

Background

On Sep. 30, Ong set tongues wagging when he posted a picture of himself and Lazo enjoying wine and the company of friends, with Ong welcoming Lazo to Singapore in the caption.

When asked by The Straits Times about whether he and Lazo were dating, Ong said he could "neither admit nor deny" it.

On Oct. 4, the Kiss92 DJ confirmed rumours that he and Lazo were dating, The New Paper reported.

However, Ong said they weren't dating exclusively, and that he has no plans for marriage.

Ong added that he wasn't sure why he had made that post on Instagram since he had gone on dates with others without posting about them.

"But I thought it was nice to welcome Jonica to Singapore as she is a well-known actress in the Philippines and would be accustomed to the spotlight," Ong told TNP.

According to IMDb, Lazo has nine TV drama and film credits to her name, including recent works such as "Isolated" and "She Means Business".

She boasts 171,000 followers on Instagram.
