Thai durian tycoon puts up S$1,191 reward for someone to slap son's mistress 10 times, cuts ties with son
Different measures.
A prominent durian tycoon in Thailand made waves recently for his unorthodox way of dealing with his son's infidelity.
Arnon Rodthong had put up the reward after finding out his son had been cheating on his daughter-in-law.
According to Thaiger, he put up a 30,000 baht (S$1,191) reward for anyone who slapped his son's mistress 10 times.
He said the reward would remain valid till the mistress broke off with his son.
Arnon also urged police to check his son's pickup truck for illegal firearms.
He also revealed that his son had threatened his daughter-in-law with a gun after she caught him with his mistress.
While some praised him for standing up for his daughter-in-law, others pointed out that this was probably highly illegal.
Arnon, acknowledging the potentially illegal nature of the reward, rescinded his offer.
However, he insisted he had done so out of a desire to protect his daughter-in-law's dignity.
What he did do was cut off ties with his son. He said he would confiscate all assets he had placed in his son's name and transfer them to his granddaughter.
