Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums for most categories increased in the latest tender exercise which ended on Oct. 8.

Cat A

The COE premium for Category A, which is for smaller, less powerful cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, as well as for EVs with up to 110 kilowatts of power, went up to S$128,105.

This was a 7.6 per cent increase, or S$9,102, from the S$119,003 recorded at the last tender exercise results on Sep. 17, 2025.

Cat B

The premium for Category B, for bigger, more powerful cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp, as well as EVs with more than 110 kilowatts of power, rose to S$141,000.

This was a 3 per cent increase, or S$4,110, from the S$136,890 premium set at the last round.

Open Category

The premium for the open category COE price fell to S$140,009, which is 0.4 per cent, or S$493, less than the S$140,502 premium set at the last tender.

Open category certificates can be used to register any vehicle type, excluding motorcycles, but they are almost exclusively used for larger, more powerful cars.

The motorcycle COE premium ended up at S$9,810, an increase of 6.5 per cent from the previous premium of S$9,101.

The commercial vehicle, or Category C, COE premium also increased to S$74,301, an increase of 2.5 per cent, or S$1,800, from the previous premium of S$72,501.

Higher prices due to three-week exercise and higher demand in lower-cost EVs: LTA

In response to media queries about the COE prices, a spokesperson from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in an Oct. 8 statement that the higher prices in the bidding exercise are in part due to it being a three-week exercise, and the car roadshow in end-September 2025.

"More broadly, the lower costs of electric vehicles (EVs) especially from China, as well as the reduction of incentives for cleaner energy vehicles, have also added to demand," the spokesperson added.

LTA also advised car buyers in Singapore to "be prudent" when bidding for COEs.
