Against his family's advice, an elderly man in India married a woman less than half his age.
But the morning after their wedding, his health suddenly took a turn for the worse.
He died the same day.
The death of the man, 75-year-old Sangruram, has raised suspicions in his village, reported India news outlet NDTV.
His family has asked for funeral proceedings to be halted, and the rites performed only after their arrival.
Second marriage
Sangruram, who worked as a farmer in a village, had lost his first wife a year ago.
The couple had no children, and he found himself alone after his wife's death.
When he brought up the idea of remarrying, his family reportedly advised him not to.
But on Sep. 29, he married a 35-year-old woman, Manbhavati, in Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh.
They had a court marriage and a small temple ceremony.
Spent the wedding night talking
It was also the woman's second marriage.
She has three children from her previous marriage, but said that her husband had promised to provide for them.
Her responsibility was to look after the household, she told villagers.
Manbhavati said they spent much of their wedding night talking to each other.
But in the morning, her new husband's health rapidly deteriorated and he was taken to hospital.
He was declared dead, with the cause of death still unknown.
