Cebu residents slept with plastic bags covering their bodies after 6.9 magnitude earthquake
Over 70 have died due to the quake.
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake rocked a central Philippine province late on Tuesday, Sep. 30.
Over 70 have died due to the quake.
According to local media, over 400,000 people were affected by the quake.
This has led to the government setting upĀ "tent cities" in Bogo City and other areas.
Perhaps the most sobering image of the post-earthquake realities is how some Cebu residents had to sleep inside plastic bags on Wednesday.
While there were evacuation centres, the people in the pictures did not go to them, as it was too far away.
Residents were then still advised not to go back into buildings.
While things have settled down since then, there have been thousands of aftershocks since Sep. 30, and officials warn that these could persist for weeks.
