US website Jezebel published article paying witches to curse Charlie Kirk 2 days before death
Hex.
Charlie Kirk, the founder of the influential United States-based conservative media outlet Turning Point USA (TPUSA), has died after being shot while at an outdoor speaking event at Utah Valley University near Salt Lake City.
This has led to quite a lot of reactions online.
There have been quite an outpouring of grief, including by U.S. President Donald Trump.
However, some have also taken to dredging up his quite substantial online footprint to make quite pointed political criticisms.
This included his claim that it was worth having a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every year so that "we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.".
One of the more unexpected hindsight points have been Jezebel's recent Kirk-related article.
The story is a humorous column on having witches hired from Etsy, an e-commerce platform, place "hexes" on Kirk.
Some of the hexes the writer considered included "Same Day Bad Luck Curse", "Career Crusher Curse", and the "Sh*t Your Pants Spell".
While the article was published at an ominously close date to the shooting, the actual curse was aimed for Aug. 24.
The writer noted that nothing significant happened on the date itself, but considered this subsequent tweet a sign that the "make everyone hate him" spell was in full effect.
"I believe this is it. Slowly over the course of the coming months, the circumference of Kirk’s head will increase inch by inch until he becomes a literal human bobblehead.
Or maybe it keeps growing until it eventually pops. Either way, it feels… appropriate."
An earlier part of the article mentioned a "POWERFUL HEX SPELL" where the writer had to provide Kirk’s date of birth for "accuracy".
The witch who performed the hex said she had completed her spell and that the first results would be seen within two to three weeks.
The writer also noted a petition to bar Kirk from visiting a campus on his college tour as a sign of the curse working.
The petition was made by students of Utah university, where Kirk was shot.
Jezebel has issued an editor's note following Kirk's shooting.
"Editor’s Note: This story was published on September 8. Jezebel condemns the shooting of Charlie Kirk in the strongest possible terms.
We do not endorse, encourage, or excuse political violence of any kind."
