Set meals are serious business.
A recent Stomp article featured a customer writing in to express displeasure at service staff at Express Teppanyaki.
The diner recounted how they (the diner and a companion) had ordered Set B, which appears to be this:
The set apparently came with one bowl of rice, so they ordered another bowl of rice (another S$1.50) to round off a two-mealer.
The diner however told Stomp that a cashier whispered that they did not accept two people ordering a set.
This was apparently not the first time she had made these comments. The diner then felt quite "looked down" upon.
Interestingly enough, there was a Google review expressing displeasure at this sharing situation as well.
This time apparently involving three folks.
The eatery replied to Stomp saying that they value all diners and try to provide quality meals and a good dining experience.
While they acknowledged sharing is common in casual dining, they said that each set is "designed and portioned" for one person, and encouraged each diner to order their own set to "ensure fairness and consistency".
They said they do not condone any form of rudeness and take customer feedback seriously as part of "ongoing service training".
