"Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this basal cell carcinoma. Thank you!" he wrote.

Ramsay also clarified that his stitches were not from "a face lift", and urged his followers to use sunscreen.

Basal cell carcinoma is a common type of skin cancer that begins in the skin's basal cells, a type of cell that produces new skin cells, according to Mayo Clinic.

Factors that increase the risk of basal cell carcinoma include chronic exposure to the sun or commercial tanning beds, radiation therapy and taking immune-suppressing drugs.
