Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung highlighted some "exciting changes" coming to northern Singapore in the next few years, as planned by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).

On Aug. 31, the final day of the URA Draft Master Plan 2025 exhibition's rotation in Causeway Point, Ong shared on Facebook a few plans that caught his eye.

The Sembawang GRC MP said that the upcoming North-South Corridor offers opportunities to expand the Sembawang Hot Spring Park to occupy part of an existing road.

Residents can enjoy a bigger hot spring park if traffic is moved up to the viaduct, he explained.

Additionally, the area around the former Royal Malayan Naval Base Admin Block will be developed into a community hub, similar to Bukit Canberra.

The block will be part of the new Woodlands North Coast Integrated Development, which will include spaces for sports, community, healthcare, food and drinks, and social services.

This area could become a future "North Coast Leisure Park", Ong envisioned.

URA's Draft Master Plan 2025 presents Singapore's land-use development plans for the next 10 to 15 years.

Besides the former Royal Malayan Navy Admin Block, other landmarks that URA proposed for conservation include the Jurong Hill Tower, former SIT blocks at Dakota Crescent, the North and South Grandstands at Bukit Timah Turf City, the Singapore Badminton Stadium, and the former Pasir Panjang English School.
