A decomposing body of a woman was found in a truck parked by the road on Sep. 23 in Jalan Gombak, Kuala Lumpur after a foul odour was detected in public.

The body was found inside the vehicle in front of a business block in Diamond Square, reported The Star.

Local police said early checks revealed the vehicle might have been parked there for the past two days.

A building supervisor first noticed the smell before alerting the police.

Authorities later conducted checks and found the body inside the vehicle, police said.

No criminal elements were found at the scene and a post-mortem examination is expected to be done at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

No identification was found on the body, but investigations are ongoing to identify the woman and trace the vehicle’s owner.

The case has currently been classified as sudden death.

Leaking body fluids

Firefighters who spoke to China Press said that removing the body from the vehicle was difficult as it had already decomposed and was leaking "body fluids", and was almost stuck to the passenger seat.

The reporter observed that the smell from the vehicle had attracted flies to the scene.

A fried banana vendor at a stall near the incident told China Press that she had smelled the odour since the day before but thought it was a dead rat.

Videos of the scene have also circulated online.

Several comments on the video said they recognised the car as one often seen parked at the location.

Body could have been there for 4 days

However, according to China Press, the body of the woman could have been there for four days.

The truck, it was reported, belonged to a different woman.

The owner had left the truck parked by the kerb for months owing to the lack of lots in the compound she lives in.

The truck has been used to store the belongings of the owner.

Once, the owner had to break the window of her own truck as she had forgotten to bring along the truck's key.

As a result, the truck could no longer be securely locked.

The truck's owner reportedly did not know the deceased woman who was found inside.
