One college student in Hangzhou, China, had her day, or possibly week, ruined after a sewage pipe in her classroom burst, causing brownish water to rain down on her from above.

Regret

In a video posted to Xiaohongshu, a girl could be heard wailing as she filmed the aftermath of the burst pipe.

Through her cries, she was heard saying that she should have chosen to sit elsewhere.

As the video panned across the room, black pipes could be seen on the ceiling.

The lady, who was barefooted and standing in a pool of coffee-brown water, appeared soaked.

Water was dripping from the ceiling, apparent from the ripples on the floor.

The desks, chairs, bags and electrical appliances in the room were also covered in brownish water.

Spectacles caused blockage: School

According to local reports, the mishap occurred on Sep. 8 in a China Academy of Art classroom in Hangzhou, China, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The lady was the only student in the room at the time.

Commenting on the incident, the school said a pair of spectacles created a blockage in the sewage pipe, causing it to burst.

However, experts disputed this, saying that a pair of spectacles alone are not large enough to cause the pipe to burst in such a way.

Instead, it was more likely to be a result of wear, lack of maintenance or high pressure that the pipes could not withstand, which caused the leak.

While some online made light of the situation, others called on the school to right the wrongs and make it up to the student properly.

The school shared that the classroom has already been cleaned up and de-odoured extensively.

Since the items in the room were contaminated, they have been disposed of, Sin Chew Daily reported.

However, it was not mentioned if the student has been compensated by the school in any way.
