A basketball match turned chaotic when players from opposing teams broke into a fight midway through a game that was being held at Anderson Secondary School (ADSS) on Aug. 31, 2025.

In a video shared on the Singapore Incidents' Facebook page on Sep. 5, basketball players clad in separate red and white jerseys were seen throwing punches after one player dunked the ball into the hoop.

Responding to Mothership's queries, a Sport Singapore (SportSG) spokesperson confirmed that a police report has been made.

Started fighting

At the start of the 41-second clip, the players were seen passing the basketball around before a player near the post caught it.

He then proceeded to make a layup.

The same player then appeared to engage in a staredown with a player from the other team.

It quickly escalated, seemingly leading to some shoving.

Within seconds, teammates rushed in to defuse the situation, while others were drawn into the scuffle.

A whistle could be heard being blown repeatedly to stop the fight.

At least one swing was thrown, and multiple players could be seen grappling as the confrontation spilt across the court.

The fight reached its peak between the 20- and 30-second mark, with the game effectively halted as players and bystanders tried to separate those involved.

Two players were also seen falling to the ground.

By the end of the clip, shouting continued even as the confrontation wound down.

It is unclear what triggered the initial altercation beyond the physical contact during play.

No injuries, police report made

The SportSG spokesperson said that it is aware of the incident and is assisting with police investigations after a report was lodged.

They added that no ADSS students were involved, and no injuries were reported.

The match was held at the school's basketball court, which is a facility under ActiveSG's Dual Use Scheme.

The spokesperson said it does not condone "such unruly behaviour" within its facilities.

As such, the relevant MyActiveSG+ accounts involved in the incident have been suspended, and all future bookings belonging to these individuals have also been cancelled.

"SportSG reminds all users to play sports with good sportsmanship and respect for others," the spokesperson added.
