S'porean man, 21, pleads guilty to taking videos of women showering at gym he worked at
Javier Lee Kah Chuan had targeted women in several locations including Jurong, Prinsep Street and Farrer Park.
A Singaporean man pleaded guilty on Sep. 10 to filming women showering in the gym he used to work in.
Javier Lee Kah Chuan, 21, had done so on multiple occasions in 2022 and also repeated the act in other locations, reported The Straits Times (ST).
Recorded women using toilets in multiple locations
At the time of his offences, Lee was an employee under Body Fit Training (BFT) and was working at their Farrer Park branch.
According to court documents, he committed multiple acts of voyeurism between July and November 2022, targeting women at several locations, including his workplace and a bar along Prinsep Street.
Lee had also recorded a video of a woman doing a "private act" at a coffeeshop on Yung Loh Road.
According to ST, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mavis Ng said that Lee secretly filmed three women showering at his former workplace on separate occasions in September and November 2022.
He had also recorded another woman using the toilet there.
On Sep. 15, 2022, his colleague at the time alerted police after a woman reported spotting a mobile phone appearing and disappearing in her toilet cubicle.
However, Lee's actions were not uncovered at the time.
He had also targeted women at a Prinsep Street bar in July 2022, where he took voyeuristic toilet videos.
One of these videos was recorded in slow motion, according to ST.
On Nov. 27, 2022, while attending a sports competition at Taman Jurong Park, Lee followed two female friends to a nearby coffee shop and filmed them in the toilet.
He repeated the act twice more with other women on the same day before being caught.
One victim managed to seize his phone and reported him to the authorities, leading to his arrest.
Pleaded guilty
According to ST, Lee pleaded guilty to six counts of voyeurism, while another eight charges will be considered during sentencing.
The court has ordered a probation suitability report, with his sentencing scheduled for October 2025.
Those found guilty of voyeurism may face up to two years' jail, or fined, or caned, or a combination of these punishments.
