WhatsappThe 36-year-old man who died in a Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) accident involving two motorcycles on Sep. 9 was a groom-to-be, according to Shin Min Daily News.

A tribute post on Facebook said that the man, James Wong, was also a part of RunSGD, a motorbiking club consisting of Malaysian riders in Singapore.

"It is with deepest sympathy that we share about the passing of James Wong, who died in an accident on PIE towards BKE," the post said.

It claimed that Wong had a young child, and added that his ashes will be flown back to Cheras, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Wong was originally from Penang, Malaysia.

He was planning to get married to a girlfriend in Thailand, where he had returned from just a month ago, according to a friend, speaking to Shin Min.

He was also said to be working in Singapore as a mechanical and electrical coordinator in a construction and interior decoration company, while renting an apartment in Johor Bahru, from which he commuted to work in Tuas every day.

The accident allegedly occurred as Wong was on the way to work, Shin Min reported.

His funeral procession began today (Sep. 10) at about 5pm, and the cremation ceremony will take place on Sep. 11.

His family will then bring his ashes back to Malaysia.

Accident

The accident involving Wong and another motorcyclist occurred at about 6.25am on Sep. 9, along the PIE on the slip road to the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), towards the Seletar Expressway (SLE).

Wong was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic, while a 32-year-old motorcyclist was conveyed conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
