S'pore man, 30, arrested for slashing another man with Swiss army knife at City Plaza
The law caught up with him within six hours.
A 30-year-old man was arrested by the police on Aug. 18 for allegedly slashing another man with a Swiss army knife at City Plaza.
According to a Singapore Police Force (SPF) news release on Aug. 19, SPF received a call for assistance at 9:20am.
A man informed officers that he had been slashed with a knife at 810 Geylang Road, the street address of City Plaza.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 30-year-old man purportedly got into a dispute with the victim.
Subsequently, the 30-year-old allegedly used a Swiss army knife to attack the victim.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from surveillance camera footage, SPF officers established the identity of the alleged attacker and arrested him within six hours.
The man will be charged in court on Aug. 20 for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
The charge carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, a fine, caning, or with any combination of such punishments.
"The police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence in the community and will not hesitate to take a firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law," the police said.
