A Shopee delivery personnel has been removed from duty after he was caught on camera taking a parcel from a home in Pioneer on Aug. 21.

The clip

In a Facebook post from Aug. 24, the resident alleged that a Shopee delivery personnel had been "repeatedly stealing parcels in the area".

A 10-second clip showed a man in a red shirt purportedly placing an item in front of the resident's door on the evening of Aug. 21.

After taking a photo with his phone camera, the man bent down and picked up a parcel before leaving.

"My recent parcel showed as ‘delivered’ but was missing. He had taken the photo for proof of delivery, then took the parcel away," the resident wrote.

She claimed that when she checked with her neighbours, they told her they had the same experience with him.

Man claimed he lost the parcel: Resident

In an update on Aug. 25, the resident said that she reported the matter to Shopee, who told her they are investigating the matter.

She said the delivery personnel's supervisor called her to provide an explanation, but she was unconvinced.

According to the resident, the supervisor proposed a private settlement but she rejected it.

Following this, the delivery personnel apparently also called her to apologise but claimed he "lost" her parcel and that the package he left at her door and photographed was not hers.

"I sent him his own video and told him to review it," the resident wrote.

She added that she has lodged a police report on the matter.

Personnel has been removed from duty: Shopee

In response to Mothership's enquiries, a Shopee spokesperson said that the order has been refunded and the personnel involved has ceased duties with immediate effect while investigations are ongoing.

"We take this matter very seriously and regret the inconvenience caused to the buyer," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said Shopee is working closely with their third-party logistics partner on investigations.

"Where delivery standards are not met, we will take the necessary disciplinary actions with our partner, which may include permanent removal from duties," the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson said that customers who encounter missing parcels should report them, and Shopee will investigate and assist with refunds where appropriate.
