SM Lee to receive Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun award from Japan PM
His visit to Japan comes ahead of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2026.
Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be making a working visit to Osaka and Tokyo, Japan, from Aug. 21 to Aug. 27.

His visit capitalises on the strong momentum of high-level exchanges between Singapore and Japan, and reaffirms the close and longstanding ties between the two countries.
Senior Minister of State for Defence and for Sustainability and the Environment Zaqy Mohamad, Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and for Education Jasmin Lau, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development and for Law Eric Chua, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister's Office will be accompanying SM Lee on his trip.

SM Lee will be the Guest-of-Honour at the Singapore National Day Celebrations at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan.
Expo 2025 aims to bring together people and innovation from around the world in an effort to address issues facing humankind on a global scale.
The Singapore Pavilion, also known as 'The Dream Sphere', will showcase Singapore's story and innovative spirit, as well as promote the key messages of innovation, resilience, sustainability and inclusivity.
SM Lee to receive the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun award
During his visit, SM Lee is also expected to call on Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru.
He will also be receiving the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun award from Ishiba.
The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun was established in 1875 to recognise individuals who have made distinguished contribution to the Japanese nation.
The Grand Cordon is the highest rank of this award.
Additionally, SM Lee will be meeting with Japanese political and business leaders, and engage overseas Singaporeans in Osaka and Tokyo.
