Lavender hit-and-run: Car driver, 33, to be charged after tow truck driver, 57, dies in hospital
Leaving an accident scene without rendering assistance is a crime.
A 33-year-old man will be charged in court on Aug. 27, 2025, for a case of dangerous driving and hit-and-run offences.
Hit-and-run accident along Lavender Street
The man, who was driving a rental car, got into an accident with a tow truck along Lavender Street towards Balestier Road on Aug. 20, at around 10:05pm.
The accident happened before the junction of King George's Avenue.
The 57-year-old male tow truck driver died after being conveyed unconscious to the hospital.
The car driver did not render assistance to the injured man and fled the scene immediately after the accident, according to the police.
He also did not report the accident to the police within 24 hours.

Arrested within five days
The Traffic Police identified and arrested the car driver on Aug. 25, through extensive ground inquiries and with the aid of police cameras.
The man's licence has also been suspended with immediate effect.
For dangerous driving causing death, the offender could be jailed for up to eight years and be disqualified from driving all classes of vehicle.
For failing to stop after an accident, failing to report the accident, and failing to render assistance, each offence carries a fine of up to S$3,000, a jail term of up to 12 months, or both.
Offenders may be disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles for at least 12 months.
