The son of a former Malaysian prime minister was arrested on Aug. 23 after the police found drugs in his car.

He was reportedly driving in reverse at high speed on the Sprint Highway near the Damansara Toll Plaza, which prompted the Selangor police to stop him, according to Malay Mail.

When the police searched his car, they found 3 grams of heroin, The Star reported.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, confirmed the arrest.

He also affirmed that the accused is the son of a former Malaysian prime minister, but declined to elaborate, New Straits Times reported.

He did not state which prime minister it was, but added that the accused is in his 20s.

The police said that the suspect also had previous drug-related records.

He was taken to the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters for further action, Malay Mail reported.
