Bukit Merah HDB flat fire that killed 2 likely started from PMD battery pack
Two persons died in hospital after being rescued.

On Aug. 13, a fire broke out on the fourth-floor unit of block 106 Jalan Bukit Merah.
Two persons — a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman — were conveyed unconscious to the hospital, and subsequently passed away.
In an update on SCDF's Facebook page, preliminary findings found that the fire could have started from a battery pack of a personal mobility device (PMD) in the living room.
The Facebook post further advised the public to not leave batteries or devices charging for prolonged periods or leaving the batteries to charge unattended overnight.
The public is also advised not to purchase or use non-original batteries.
